The swabs that most PCR tests use are made in China and sterilized with ethylene oxide (swab packaging marked with EO to show that). Unfortunately, ethylene oxide is carcinogenic. Hopefuly, 99.x% of the EO has evaporated off and you'll be fine. But the one Covid test I did (a home test), I threw away the EO-marked swab pkg and used my own house-brand QTip, just in case...
