I have heard this about food from Italy, I have always linked it to the lack of GMO food unlike here in Canada. 😔

I think it is that they use fresh ingredients with no additives. You go to Italy and there's barely any frozen food. Everything is fresh all the time.

And little old ladies still ride their ancient gear-less bicycles to the piazze every morning to buy their daily bread and fresh meat and produce.

Then pedal home again with their groceries on the handlebars to cook lunch.

Yes, Italians always use fresh ingredients from what I have seen. They take it very seriously.
