Good on the Italians but for me not surprising. My Italian relatives take great pride in their and the nations food and even when they travel to other countries will only eat at Italian restaurants. Even the disgusting McDonalds had trouble setting up in Italy and I remember only seeing one when i was there in Venice...catering as always to the tourist who needs disgusting processed shite food.

I agree that Italian food is among the top cuisines of the world; however, what about Indian, Lebanese, French and Mexican food? Don't you think those are worth a try, too?
O I agree! I eat all those. It's my Italian relatives i'm talking about who live in Italy are quite snobby about their own food. I'm happy to try anything....many lovely cuisines in the world. In fact, i've told them they're missing out.
I could never forget the Scots - there are plenty of them in my ancestry. However, while haggis is good (I recommend swedes, aka rutabaga, with it), and almost any food is great when prepared expertly, you can't really say that Scottish cuisine is routinely wonderful. Sorry, but I'm thinking of battered deep-fried Mars bars and such like!!

Actually McDonalds is pretty popular in Italy from what I've seen. They have huge queues of Italians in the evenings.
