I agree with Poland. If it goes against their constitution then I say more power to them.

Besides, in a communist nation do you think you would be given the same freedom to choose a political party that is not communist?

Yeah, didn't think so.

Communism has no regard for democratic principles that western, Christian, nations were founded upon.

And you see how well it works mandating the left to teach the atrocities of communism, they will not. They will defy. It is time we quit giving them the opportunity to inflict communism on us.

Go Poland!

No fan of the Communist, Marxist-Leninist or Trotskyist parties.

However, banning politicians and parties whether the attempts to ban the AfD in Germany, Marie Le Pen in France or the Communist Party in Poland is a strike against democracy.

Same with banning or restricting free speech. Authoritarianism from the left to right is never good for free societies.

Enjoy your reporting on Covid, drugs in agriculture and free speech but gotta disagree with you on this one Peter.

That is an interesting point. I agree that banning political parties is in general a bad idea, because, if a tyrant comes along, then it sets the precedent for possibly banning any opposition.

However, what do you think should be done if there is a political party that supports an ideology that has killed over 100 million people?

If any members of the local communist party were guilty of crimes (financial, human rights abuses, etc.) prior to democracy they should be prosecuted.

Also, it is up to the other parties to point out the history of the Communist Party in Poland and tell the electorate what communist regimes have done (including in Poland).

Ultimately we have to hope that citizens will not choose to support terrible ideologies and political parties, but looking at the five parties in the Canadian Parliament I see nothing but garbage. They all applauded a Ukrainian Nazi a few years ago (Yaroslav Hunka).

Perhaps ensuring schools teach the truth about communism's history would be better than banning the party.

But here in little NZ, our schools were told to "preach" certain indoctrinations to our kids, by the previous Govt.

Now, the current Govt has tried to make that illegal, but quite a few leftist-dominated schools have said they'll defy the new law and continue with the indoctrination.....

Agree, when history becomes weaponized by any state, ideology or tribe it is just propaganda.
